It is common for students now days to see their formal relationships with their teachers as distasteful. Supporting them on a more personal level involves getting to know their habits, what they like, what they dislike and how they handle problems. Investigating their attention span and interest must be catered to.
Students also seek justification in their learning; why am I learning this? What is this for? I do not see anything wrong with showing them the bigger picture.
For high school students, studying techniques and methods can be really helpful in self-guided learning.
So teaching techniques vary from student to student, but my basis focuses on understanding their personal relationship with studies and academia.
Currently undertaking a double degree of aerospace and mathematical/computer science at Adelaide University. I have taught high school science and math subjects to my own year level during high school in Abu Dhabi, single handedly formed and hosted an after-school math help session. I also have supported students in Vietnam and Spain.
Completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) program in Abu Dhabi (expert in completing the IB program).
Have studied in Spain, Italy, Vietnam, UAE, Cambodia and Australia.
