My teaching method begins by presenting a problem or concept to students in hopes to get feedback to gauge how much previous knowledge they have. Once I know how much they know, I present the proper way to complete the problem and work through a few examples. From there, I give the students problems to work through, guiding them only when necessary. A big part of what I try to achieve is to identify any gaps in basic skills needed to master new concepts. By working on these basic skills as well, new concepts become easier to grasp.
I am a B.A. biology graduate who spent four years tutoring kids of all grades in math. This is where I developed my love in helping students understand concepts they previously struggled with. In college, I frequently studied in groups where we would help each other learn new material.
