Chemistry, like biology, physics, economics, engineering and advanced maths is one of the best and most popular science subjects at school and university because it combines the best parts of learning in a maths and science class.

It certainly isn't easy to master chemistry, just like with engineering, economics, biology, or physics, but if you have a friendly work environment and a dedicated teacher or private tutor, you will be happy with what you can achieve.

Chemistry: One of the Key Life Sciences and Best Ways to Get a Good ATAR in your Studies for University

Whether you are well versed in a science such as chemistry, physics, or biology, and have been studying year after year all the way to HSC in Sydney or NSW, or if you're just a beginner and have been learning in private and time will tell how much help and private tutoring you need to be a great student in the subject, a private Chemistry tutor in Sydney NSW will benefit you, regardless of your level.

Help is available from a tutor anywhere across NSW for students of any level.

Here, we run through some of the main ways you can study chemistry and how a tutor can help you. Whether you want private online classes, are currently looking for help for exam preparation or ATAR scores in group classes with other students from school, wanting to achieve more in your studies and expand your knowledge at university, or want to find out how you can answer chemistry questions in another field such as economics or engineering, you should read on to get the help you need in plain English

What to Know About Chemistry Studies Before Starting your Private Tutoring

Chemistry as a subject covers so many practical life science and earth focussed elements which have a large impact on the way we live.

An easy and great definition to help students across Sydney NSW, regardless of what class or year of school or HSC they're in, is this: Chemistry is the science that deals with the properties, structure, and composition of substances, and any private or class teacher will tell you that it deals with questions of matter that are naturally as well as artificially produced.

Subjects like this, particularly in the science field, may not seem particularly friendly, and look like they will take up a lot of your time.

Whilst these subjects do require a lot of work, they are particularly rewarding since you can go from good to great knowledge of the world around us, which will serve you well no matter what you think your best course at university will be - physics, chemistry, biology, other science, maths, or otherwise.

Chemistry, as we have knowledge of, falls within the school of science, and concerns properties, which are formed of atoms.

There is a high number of these, as you will find out from your private tutor during your first months or year of tutoring class, around 100 or so that make up all organisms.

Most elements in fact only go down to the atom level and don't have any smaller components, so this should be one of the best subjects for students who aren't looking to learn about the subatomic domain, as you would in microbiology.

HSC Chemistry is one of the most popular subjects, but isn't easy, so a private teacher or tutor can use extra materials to coach you.

You will have a great time learning about the science of solids, liquids, and gases in chemistry, and you will be happy to learn also that there is a high amount of work available to you if you achieve well in these subjects.

Chemistry is one of the best career paths for science, as you will no doubt learn with your private tutor or tutors.

Private tutoring can thus boost your prospects of ending up in fields as diverse as: food science, biochemistry, pharmaceuticals, metallurgy, and genetics research.

Differences in Chemistry Study Between High School, HSC, and University

All students across Sydney and NSW will know well, regardless of their knowledge level or experience learning about Chemistry in class, that you have to work hard and spend year after year of your time throughout high school and HSC to achieve a good or great ATAR score in order to get into the best possible course at university.

Early high school

A student will typically study mostly in class at school up from year 7 to year 10, with some complimentary online learning to expand their knowledge, either independently or assigned by their teacher.

Currently, the Sydney metropolitan and NSW governments do not impose a curriculum with an exam focus for these years, however, this experience may vary from school to school.

This is typically seen as the easy part of your chemistry studies, which are delivered in simple English and in which the student shouldn't need to spend too much extra time learning outside of their lessons.

Moreover, whilst this does not concern the ATAR directly, the teacher or private tutoring students receive at this level will help them achieve the foundations necessary to go onto further study in Chemistry or other similar subjects like biology and physics at HSC.

HSC Study

We all well know the stress of the penultimate year and final year of high school where all a student can think about is their upcoming maths, English, science etc exam.

This is usually a very stressful experience for any students, and it's hard for them to remain friendly and happy after their lessons the closer to their exam they get.

For this reason, the teacher will dedicate so much of their focus to their year 11 and year 12 students during their lesson, and this is, therefore, the best time to engage a tutor or team of tutors since they can help to reduce stress, offer study and exam preparation skills, improve your English exam and test writing, and explain concepts in a friendly way that make it easier to absorb concepts from your learning at school and achieve a high ATAR.

A final notable point about science subjects, in particular Chemistry and physics, at year 11 and year 12 in HSC is that they are scaled up compared to other subjects such as English and basic maths, since the latter are taken by almost every student in Sydney, NSW, and Australia.

This means that your score for the subject, which is marked out of 50, may be a raw score of 35, but gets scaled up to 48 or so because the difficulty of Chemistry warrants loading onto the score, which in the end will get you a better ATAR.

University Chemistry Study

If you do well in high school and HSC and get the best possible ATAR you can, you may be able to get into university to study science subjects and broaden your scientific knowledge and experience.

You may get the best course for you and your top preference, have to work towards your dream course or do an adjacent or double degree that combines many skills.

What this means for Chemistry is that you may study engineering and have many sub-components such as Chemistry and Physics rather than studying Chemistry directly.

If you do however have burning questions about pure chemistry and want to learn and find out the secrets of the world, your teacher will work with you to explore complex theorems, the atomic makeup of man-made and natural structures, lead tests on the material composition of the earth, test and design new materials using your chemical knowledge, and explore the business world related to Chemistry.

In relation to this last point, there will also be a highly practical focus, as you will be expected to grasp the theory very early on in your first year and apply it from there on out.

Experiments will be used to determine the best course of action and you can then apply this knowledge to how it may be mass produced or exploited for market or government benefit, such as mass food production or raw mineral sourcing through mining or cultivation.
