About the lesson
All classes are tailored to individual students or groups of students, and aim for the greatest amount of information transfer in the shortest time. Lessons are usually for two hours, consisting of one hour theory and one hour practice. The duration of the course depends on when the individual students feels they have reached a sufficient level for their purpose(s). These classes are for adult students, and usually deal with English Test Preparation for high stakes exams related to university or college entry or other issues such as employment or permanent residence applications. I'm also happy to teach all levels of Academic/General/ESP English if required.

About John
John began teaching ESL in General English, ESP, and Test Preparation in the 1990s, with the qualifications of B.A. (hons), M.A. qual, and Cert TESOL, and from the early 2000s became an IELTS examiner and has taught at Westminster University, London, Birmingham City University, U.K., as well as Adelaide University, Australia and University of South Australia. He was the manager as well as lecturer in the English Language Services department at Binus International University in Jakarta, Indonesia. He has not only managed and designed syllabi but also taught Academic English as well as Test Preparation in IELTS, TOEIC, TOEFL, SAT, and GMAT, the latter at the London MBA school. Now in Brisbane, Australia he is happy to teach all of these subjects at any level, either in person or online to individuals or groups. John's teaching is infomed by many years experience at every level from beginner to the highest level (PhD candidates) and is therefore excellent with great results, the most recent being a student who gained 7.5 in IELTS, thereby making his long held dream a reality. He does everything to ensure you can trust your future with him.

Perfect! John is one of the most enthusiastic and conscientious teachers I have ever met. He is knowledgable about IELTS and tells you ways to achieve your desire band score. He also provided many effective learning materials as well as sources ( websites, documentaries,…). He always encouraged me to ask any questions so that I can totally understand the lesson. It’s great to meet someone like him!
