My methodology is largely centred around personal enjoyment and satisfaction. I believe that one must enjoy what they are doing in order to succeed and excel. I would absolutely love to share my passion for music with students, and hope to introduce them to a wide variety of genres and styles. A standard lesson would usually include some music theory, scales and then musical pieces. However, this lesson structure is subject to change as I customise each lesson specifically for each individual student.
While studying a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at university, I have also been teaching music and piano to students for about 4 years. Subsequently, I am currently teaching at a music school while also privately teaching students from my home at both primary school and high school levels. I have been playing the piano and studying classical music for a period of about 16 years and have also completed the Grade 8 Australian Music Examination Board (AMEB) Exam. I am quite experienced with teaching younger children, and I am confident in my ability to adapt the more complex musical concepts towards a much younger audience. Regardless of wether students want to play professionally or just for leisure, I am able to aid them in achieving their goals as a musician.
(I am fluent in both English and Mandarin).
Perfect! Ms. Hong is great. My 8yo loves her piano class and waits for the weekend. My child has improved greatly under Ms. Hong. She is very patient and encouraging. Would definitely recommend.
Hong is a very dedicated teacher whose extensive experience with classical music and piano has helped my 8 year old daughter rapidly improve in her piano skills. She is an amazing teacher who is always bright and friendly! I highly recommend her!
Hong is a very knowledgeable and kind piano teacher. She's very dedicated in helping me learn, very patient when I am struggling, and always willing to help me improve. I highly recommend her to anyone who wishes to improve or learn piano! Her teaching style is impeccable and I find myself surprised by how quickly I am able to learn. Trying to relearn piano may be a daunting experience, especially as a 35 year old myself, but nevertheless it is great with her.
