It is important to me to work hand-in-hand with students as I believe it is a joint effort and we get greater value from the lessons by doing so. My teaching method begins with asking students to rate their skills so far and ask them what personal goals they want to set for themselves. I then outline milestones we should be reaching as tutoring progresses. I like to set goals within a set timeframe, however, if certain aspects of teaching require more time and effort, we will adjust accordingly to ensure the student gets the most out of the lessons.
I am an Anthropology and Sociology graduate with a minor in Literary and Cultural Studies. I have a range of experience in mentoring, supporting, advising and educating young adults. Having being brought up in a British international school in Kenya, and then relocating back to England for secondary education, grammar and comprehension has always been of the utmost importance to me. Given my background, I also have a strong degree of cross-cultural sensitivity and awareness.

This provided me with experience in balancing and maintaining a professional demeanour while developing a sense of rapport.
Marks and Spencer - I worked as a part-time customer assistant in Milton Keynes, England. This developed my communication skills as I frequently communicated with a diverse range of individuals, as well as developing my time-management skills through balancing multiple tasks at a time and prioritising accordingly.
Ignite Mentoring - I mentored at a lower socio-economic school on a weekly basis to teach year 7's skills to enhance their sense of resilience and aid them in learning soft-skills. This provided me with the experience in managing a small cohort of students and ensuring that they remain on task while making the session enjoyable and engaging.
