Holding a Bachelor of Arts, a Master of Arts in Journalism, and a Graduate Diploma in Secondary Teaching, as well as having extensive journalistic and teaching experience, I am a qualified teacher with a sound knowledge and understanding of initiatives in student learning, including the Principles of Learning and Teaching.
My experiences and training have provided me with an understanding of the most current practices of Assessment and Reporting Advice, with a thorough knowledge of the Victorian Curriculum, specifically the areas of Arts and Humanities. Furthermore, I have demonstrated my ability to successfully implement curriculum programs consistent with their intent, and to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills in my lessons.
A passionate educator and leader with extensive experience both in teaching and journalism, I have the drive, ambition and ability to work effectively to facilitate programs that improve and deepen the student experience and set them on the path to becoming global citizens. Up to date with all current education initiatives, I am dedicated to incorporating the latest technologies and thinking into my planning to make the learning exciting, relevant and interesting for all students regardless of ability or learning styles. I firmly believe in a student-centred approach and in working with all stakeholders to strategically plan for continual improvement. Possessing a strong skill set, I bring a commitment to best practice, and the drive to continually review and enhance my teaching within the modern classroom to ensure superior levels of student success and satisfaction.

Perfect! Margaret figured out our son very quickly and has made a plan moving forward. She engaged him very quickly and kept him engaged. There’s no better endorsement from a reluctant student than “Mum, I like her” before she’s even walked out the door.
As a teacher, I have never quite had the privilege of encountering a student such as Adam. His passion for reading is such a joy to behold and it clearly contributes to his excellent literacy skills: fluency, accuracy, vocabulary and spelling are excellent. Furthermore, he is a vivid and vivacious storyteller, such creativity will hopefully continue to flourish alongside his love of reading. I look forward to watching Adam now translate these existent qualities into a refined set of skills that will aid him in producing outstanding analytical works and essays. It's also great having such an actively engaged parent such as Annette on board who is a former teacher and therefore, a great asset for me as the tutor!
