When I teach screenwriting, I balance the creativity of the writers with the expectations of the readers in the business. Students will also get to practice how to affectively write descriptions that are visually concise and reveal enough information so that the reader can make sense of the story being shown.
I recently graduated from the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles, California with a Bachelors in Filmmaking degree and have gained experience in the film business. My experience includes reading screenplays, writing my own and working with a producer who pitches high concept story ideas to big studios like Warner Brothers or CBS.
All students must have excellent reading and comprehension skills, because they will be involved in reading other students' work in a workshop setting.
All students have the option to take a brief class in filmmaking that explains the fundamentals of directing and producing.
