Whether online or on face to face, I enjoy teaching in a relax atmosphere without stress or pressure. This is the way I myself learn and it’s the way I found the most effective with my students.
I like to spend the first lesson talking about what you enjoy in life, what are your passions, how you learn and why you want to learn French. Starting from there, I usually create my own tools and exercises that will suit you the most. But if you would rather use a standard method, we could work with different books depending to your needs.
In any case, the content can easily differ according to the desire and the objectives of each learner.
My motto is “Take ownership of your learning”.
My name is Virginie and I’m 37 years old. I’m a native French speaker from Belgium. I'm also an experienced French and Computer Teacher.
I started my teaching career in Belgium almost 10 years ago. At that time I was working in a multicultural environment as a computer teacher. I was helping jobless people to apply online for jobs. A lot of them where immigrants and couldn’t speak French so I started to use new technologies to assist them with the language. Often, I had to improvise activities through computer to help them with their French. My delight for teaching French as a foreign language was born.
In 2013 I realised my bigger dream: travelling and working across Australia. My first job over there was Language teacher assistant in a private school. I just loved that first experience of teaching my native language to young adults. Sharing more than just words: I liked to share an entire culture.
After more than a year around the country, I finally settled in Queensland and started working at Lingua Franca a small private French school in Brisbane where I taught French as a foreign language to adults in group and private lessons. I also run DELF training programs to prepare student for special exams. It was a rewarding experience with which I have learnt to be familiar with the Australian public.
After that useful experience I was skilled to work in a more formal institute and I started teaching for the Alliance Française de la Sunshine Coast.
When I moved back home in Belgium in 2017 my Australian students wanted to keep learning with me. So I combined my two careers and started teaching online.
I'm now currently leaving in Adelaide, working as an Online French Teacher as well as face to face.
2017-now => Online French teacher for Just About French
2016-2017 => French Teacher at the Alliance Française of the Sunshine Coast (Australia)
2014-2016 => French Tutor at Lingua Franca (Brisbane-Australia)
2013 => French Language Assistant in Perth College (Australia)
2008-2012 => Trainer ICT - Social Worker – FLE teacher in EPI Asbl (Belgium)
I started learning French earlier this year with Virginie from an absolute zero base knowledge. From day 1, she has made the classes a lot of fun and seems to have endless patience while challenging her students with both written and verbal skills, giving equal value to both. She is very encouraging, offering correction, advice and guidance, always insisting on correct pronunciation and grammar. All in all, I could not recommend Virginie highly enough. She has made learning a fairly challenging language fun and an enjoyable experience.
