I adjust my method according to what helps the student learn best, but always encourage and motivate each one. Generally I identify the areas where the student requires improvement and then work through each one using exercises. I use review and repetition to ensure new concepts sink in and the student is confident in them. I recognise that motivation is a huge part of learning, so I seek to figure out what will best motivate the student and make them enjoy the subject.
I migrated to Australia at a young age and have grown up bilingually, speaking German with my family. I studied advanced German language and culture as a major in my Bachelor of Arts and graduated at the end of 2018. I started tutoring one-on-one 8 years ago and love helping students understand and become confident in areas they struggle with in the classroom. I have seen students grow from having no interest in a subject and thinking they will never be good at it, to excelling in the subject and desiring to learn more. While I tutored other subjects previously, I have personal experience in learning a second language from scratch, since I have also learned Spanish in high school and university.
