As a private tutor I plan my lessons with flexibility according to the individual's needs. It may be the student knows their weaknesses or topics to focus on, or a student may want help with homework or have a desired grade in mind and need general tuition across the board. My lessons are engaging and motivating. Examples and explanations but with lots of practice.

As a caring and supportive individual, passionate about helping others, teaching has always been a career widely appealing to me.
Being very passionate about Mathematics and teaching, I enjoy investing my time in young people and I strive to help them reach their full potential. My main aim when teaching is to recognise each individual’s potential and unlock their full capabilities.
I have spent the last 13 years investing much time in children and young people as this is my passion and I endeavour to give as much as I can. As a highly-motivated individual, I always perform with my best efforts. I have organised many social events for people in the local community to take part in for several organisations and, as previously mentioned, I have undertaken several trips to many countries, so I could work with children and young people in schools and within their communities.
My experiences have enabled me to see teaching in different cultures, and I have learned different methods to control large numbers of children at one time. I also learnt ways to teach with very little equipment and how to cope during times of adversity. These experiences challenged me and helped me to appreciate the need to vary set work and the high importance of lesson planning and organisation, due to each pupil’s varied abilities and ages within the same classroom. I became more compassionate and empathetic, but also more dynamic and determined.
During my past experiences within UK schools, I was observed as ‘excellent’ by OFSTED whilst working in a Leicester City School as a Mathematics Specialist. During my final semester of university, I also completed a placement in a local primary school where I secured over 90% in the Communicating Mathematics module. In my first term of teacher training, I scored an overall grade of 2 against the national standards. I completed the course at outstanding overall.
My consistent strengths as a teacher are forming strong relationships with my pupils, promoting high expectations, acting in a professional manner and providing good and well-thought out lesson plans with good use of differentiation, scaffolding and questioning.
I have spent a lot of time researching and implementing work based around differentiation and engaging activities. Throughout my research on differentiation I have come across work on Kagan and also on the growth mindset. It is crucial for a child to be able to learn in a fun but safe environment. Throughout my training, I worked in a data-rich school which taught me how to collect data and implement it effectively to ensure progress in all students; alongside this, we also looked at many ways to assess learning and its importance, and how to respond effectively to assessment results in order to improve student performance.
I do believe every child has potential and an ability they are not necessarily aware of. My desire is to help children from a young age know this, to believe in themselves and to work hard to achieve what they are capable of.
Working in an outstanding school has provided me with plenty of opportunities to experience teaching at its best and the high standards around the school in terms of behaviour, work and effort. It has also enabled me to receive training from some of the best teachers with techniques and advice on how to deal with particular situations such as behaviour, EAL students or SEND students.
Besides being very motivated and disciplined, I possess many transferable skills and wide cultural knowledge.
