The pedagogy I tend to align with the most is a Humanist approach to learning. Instead of developing concepts derived from the teaching of a student, I examine the environment alongside the emotions of a student and how that environmental and emotional relationship is tailored to benefit or detract from the potential engagement of the student. This can be considered looking at the student as a whole, not just in the domains of a classroom setting but what motivates and subsequently restrains the student.
Through this approach, I am truly able to connect with a student and understand what interests them and is able to subsequently engage them in the learning process most effectively. Although others would argue that just giving a student the information is enough, I want to guarantee I have truly allowed the student to understand the concepts being discussed.
