About Angel
My name is Angel Garcia, a full-time honors student at San Jacinto College and a junior at Galena Park High School. As I strive to complete my Associate of Arts in Mathematics it has caught my attention that undergraduate experiences is what make up the whole "college experience." To be able to research amongst great professionals in their field of STEM or Psychology can rather be encouraging. Although, at times it can be discouraging due to the fact that undergraduates struggle to find programs or mentors.
I for one can confirm this due to personal experience. Through my honors program, I was able to network with Ph.D. students and professors at the University of Houston for computer science, and Rice University for Psychology research. Which I am most blessed with and would rather serve other students as a resource in that same aspect. I have also been able to give a lecture at U.T. Austin for English Literacy.
Even though I could keep going on about my own undergraduate experience, I very well have a life outside of academia. With the help of my 4 year nephew we often bake cookies, brownies, and fruit tarts for our family gatherings for the holidays. And if we are not making a mess of pastry ingredients in the kitchen we often play with my dog Lily in the backyard. Which she loves jumping on top of the kids as she gets excited for them to throw the ball.

As a young student who has enrolled in AP and Dual Enrollment, it is rather safe for me to say that I know the ins and outs of college. Not only in lecture rooms or laboratories but as well as through networking with professors. In order to maximize the opportunities, resources, and awards given by a single institution. For example, I attend San Jacinto College as an honors student and I have been able to obtain scholarships to cover my tuition, recognition through my research, and able to network with professors from Rice University and the University of Houston.
So, all this fun talk must get you thinking about what a typical lesson plan must look like. As one who has worked alongside students of all ages, there have been methods for studying. Mathematics would rather require you to step away from the flashcards, textbooks, and practice problems. Most of the time the problem with STEM students is not that they aren't smart enough but that they are not internalizing the subject since they are most likely to use the subject later on in their careers. For we will be able to not just practice on practice problems and exams provided for me by my math professors, but will also apply real-life engineering, computer science, and architecture problems to keep you, the student, engaged.
These lessons are often provided for those who are interested in the subject of mathematics. But will serve highly to high school students, and even community college students who are planning or already taking pre-calculus & Calculus I.
I will also offer academic advising for high school students and community college students who are interested in having a rather solid plan for their future careers.
