My lesson structure for science is inquiry-based learning assisted with visual aids to gain conceptual knowledge of the underlying key ideas of science. Understanding why science works assists students apply their skills to difficult problems. The use of science glossaries to obtain and retain word knowledge is paramount. The ability to deconstruct scientific text to create meaning is very important to achieve. I teach the skills and tools needed to attempt problems individually and confidently.
I have only started my teaching degree however during my previous masters degree in medicinal plant science I mentored and taught first, second and third years in their practicals. I try to find relevant interesting examples for students to relate to during the lesson. Combining the procedural knowledge with the conceptual knowledge gives a rounded learner able to apply knowledge to new ideas.

I have been a horse riding instructor since I was 17 and have represented both Botswana and South Africa in dressage, Show jumping, eventing and mounted games.
I have worked in the agricultural sector, soil, plant sampling and faecal egg worm counting. I am highly efficient and organised.
