I believe learning to read is an important foundation when combined with practical theory of either Classical or Jazz variety. This provides a basis for more advanced skills such as memorisation, composing, arranging and improvisation. I believe in studying as variety of styles including in particular popular, jazz and classical.
I have had students of all ages and levels Graduate students to preschool. I normally talk to the students to understand what they really want to get out of lessons talk about the history of music and offend listen to music each lesson.
i approach my lessons based on the student, by analysing their playing style, their preference in music and what they enjoy playing.
I access whom I'm tutoring, their interest in the instrument as well as encouraging them to devote time to theoretical side of music which should then stimulate them into how music works and if they pick up that their interests are liable to branch out to other instruments as well. The guitar is just the tool to make the music.
At the moment I am mainly teaching beginners but I can also help people who have some experience in Music and wish to see my approach in teaching. I focus mainly on getting the basics of singing down packed at first, and then continue to improve on smaller details as the singer improves.
I teach in a very simplistic way where my student understands every single step am teaching them. I also provide my very own experience and advice which might make the student feel more connected. I provide resources on what I teach so student and remember what I taught after we are done with the lesson.
My approach to teaching depends on the subject I am teaching. For subjects that are conceptual, like law or literature, I tend to be more conversational and create analogies so that students can understand subtle points I am trying to make. For subjects that are motor based, such as guitar performance, I am methodical and drill my students to refine particular areas of their skill base.
Lessons are for half an hour, once a week. Students are expected to practise regularly during the week in order to improve and achieve the short and long term goals. Mainly catering to beginners through to intermediate level guitar players. All styles of guitar playing are catered for including bass.
Musical knowledge should be built up like a lasagna. It takes time and practice to put it all together, so I like to acknowledge that and make the process as fun as possible. The passion for music fuels the learning just as much as the learning fuels the passion. We'll assess your level and objectives and take it from there.
I hope to create a spark in beginner guitarists that I once felt myself. I will base my lessons on the type of music my students prefer, while also providing base level skills that are required to progress further into the music world. I believe that practice and passion will follow after enjoyment has begun.
i base my classes on what i was taught during my time receiving lessons privately through the conservatorium of music, focusing on basic chord building, the circle of fifths, basic of scales and how to apply them musically.
Not every music student has the same needs. You need a method that has been proven to work over and over again, but you need a professional to identify exactly which method is going to give you the results you are looking for, as fast as possible, so you remain motivated and confident.
My teaching method is based off what the student feels most comfortable with, helping them understand the basics of reading sheet music and how to apply it practically within their learning.
My teaching method follows a very intuitive music mindset, I encourage my students to follow their own musical journey and use my knowledge to aid them in whatever path they wish to follow. Whether you would like to learn sight reading and theory, jazz improvisation, or would like to simply know how to play chords and sing along, I will be 100% devoted to helping you achieve your goal.
-"Everything is hard before it is easy" -Don't rush the art, eventually, it will come naturally -Cover the basics, repetition, mastery -Learn from tabs (get playing straight away) -Focus on chord shape, progression, and strumming patterns -End goal: Find flow in your music -Have fun!
My teaching lessons are a mix of practical ability, theoretical knowledge and aural skills to allow students to quickly learn how to play tunes, then understand the theory behind songs and finally equip them to be able to create their own original music.
Over the past 14 years I’ve spent my time performing and writing in bands including The Getaway Plan and The Amity Affliction. I’ve been lucky enough to perform all around Australia, America, Europe and the UK, playing venues ranging from the Brixton Academy in London to Rod Laver Arena here in Melbourne.
We agree on a goal. What is it you want to be? Then we design the road map together. We then execute based on timelines and consistent practice and check ups as we build your technique and confidence. Until we both agree that we hit the goal.
Lessons available in both classical and contemporary guitar styles, beginner to advanced, all ages welcome. Can also assist with all aspects of music theory and sight reading.
First I teach the basic accords to play. Those are the key elements to start learning to play. When you learned how to play a couple of songs I will start to teach you different ways to play, different genres and techniques.
I tailor classes around what the student wants to achieve. If you wanna get good enough to bust out the acoustic around a campfire, then we'll focus solely on learning songs.
I thrive to ensure the student learns and have an understanding of what they are being taught. From the basics of the acoustic guitar to the advanced depths of song-writing.
My teaching method is fully student-centered meaning that I will structure your learning around where you are at and also where you feel comfortable. Learning can be hard work, but through patience and perseverance it can also become fun and enjoyable.
All ages are welcome. Learning the instrument is frustrating and fun at the same time, but I will teach and show you the methods I encountered when I was still learning.
I like to create a friendly and non-intimidating environment. i love working with passionate creative students and seeing them grow into confident young musicians. I would work with beginners and teach them firstly the foundations of music theory. we would then apply these concepts to practical components of the guitar or bass.
I approach the topic of music, in particular - the guitar, in a manner of "showing" you what I know in a way that makes complete sense to you, the student. Until we live in an age where I can download "Guitar Legend" in to your brain - Matrix, anyone? - I cannot "teach" you anything, I can only ever "show" you things that have objectively made sense along the way.
Lesson is always conducted one on one. Student will provide there own instrument unless otherwise noted. First part will be revising previous weeks lesson and reaffirming any material which was not sufficiently covered. Main body will be covering additional material which has been set by the teacher.
I will teach playing the guitar in a fun and playful way. We would look up some songs you like, simplify the chords and make sure you can learn to play your song pretty fast. It is the nicest way to learn the guitar. I will not teaching music theory, but of course we will have a look at the basics you need to play the guitar.
I am an experiential educator and believe in strength based teaching. I believe in getting the students involved through playing and then adding the theory components behind their playing. My lessons are for beginners through to advanced guitar and bass students. Music is the soul of life.
I'll teach the basic lesson of guitar with basic theory. As we progress, I'll be teaching Major and minor chords as well as fingerstyle patterns and strumming patterns. Student will need to practice everyday at least 20-30 minutes to become better and better.
