We will use whatever is necessary: illustration, experimental pattern making, sculpture, painting, testing, sewing and finishing. My classes are aimed at students with any level, from beginner to advanced.
Lessons will cover basic terminology and techniques, types of machines for specific projects. We'll discuss modern sewing patterns (pdf patterns), traditional store-bought paper patterns, basic troubleshooting for your machine and when to get regular maintenance. Student will choose type of project they wish to start with.
I teach all levels, from start to finish, striving to impart understanding of the principles and reasoning, rather than simply providing sets of instructions to follow. Through this, a student develops judgement and decision-making skills, rather than perpetually relying on instruction. A true professional seeks to rely on oneself, not others.
The teaching method varies based on the specific topic requested. Regarding the modeling and sewing will alternate theoretical lessons (to understand the materials and basic processes) and practical exercises, for the creation of basic garments. The lessons are aimed at those who want to try their hand at sewing at an amateur level.
