I am currently in the first year of studying a PhD in Linguistics. My research focuses specifically at the media representation of Brexit protestors and the implications these representations may have on our democracy through Corpus Assisted Critical Discourse Analysis.
Nottingham Trent University (2017-2018):
I achieved a mid-distinction grade in MA Linguistics (By Research). My research, ‘We don’t just talk about boys’: the negotiation of emphasized femininity in young women at an all-girls’ high school, utilised both Linguistic Ethnography and Critical Discourse Analysis in order to research the discursive construction of gender in society. My research concluded that although there is much contestation surrounding the existence of post-feminism in current literature, we are not living in times governed by post-feminist discourse, and feminism still has a long way to go in ensuring gender equality.

Nottingham Trent University (2014-2017):
I achieved a first class degree in BA (Hons) Communications and Society & Linguistics. My final year dissertation focused on the omission of the prepositional phrase ‘to the’ in speakers from the East Midlands. Through interviews and online surveys, my research helped show that the speech used in the East Midlands has some dialectical characteristics that are not dissimilar to Northern dialects.
