With over 10 years performance experience and 4 years teaching experience , I pride myself on providing guitar and theory lessons that are effective and enjoyable for students of all ages. I specialise in both classical and contemporary guitar styles - beginner to advanced.
Since 2013, I have been teaching in schools across the Inner Melbourne area, including Richmond, St Michael's and Port Melbourne. I have more recently expanded to my own private teaching studio, located in Brunswick West, for which I am now taking students (I am able to travel to Inner Northern suburbs and suburbs near the CBD where required).
Having completed a Bachelor of Music (Performance) at The University of Newcastle in 2012, I went on to study a Master of Music (Performance Teaching) degree at the University of Melbourne, from which I graduated in 2015. To further develop my teaching skills, I completed a Graduate Diploma Of Teaching in 2017, and am a currently registered classroom teacher with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
Through the guidance and influence of teachers, colleagues and peers, I have become competent performing and teaching a wide range of classical and contemporary styles of music. Whether it’s pop, jazz, rock or metal, I keep well informed of new and innovative music and performers while maintaining an appreciation for classical traditions. I advocate an open-minded approach to music and encourage my students to learn music from a variety of styles and their own specific interests.
Ultimately, I am a passionate music teacher and performer who staunchly believes in the benefits of high quality and sustained music education. I aim to provide lessons and constructive feedback that encourage continued, autonomous involvement in instrumental music learning and performance.
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, thanks!
