I look to explain concepts in ways that students can relate to. There is no point reiterating the words in the book that have no meaning. It is important to learn something about the student, and create lessons/teaching materials relevant to them.
I am currently studying a Masters in Biomedical and Health Sciences at Monash (> 90 WAM) with my main research interests in Neuroscience, currently investigating the use of machine learning algorithms to classify brain scans of MND patients.
I am passionate about teaching science and would love to get into a teaching role at some stage either at university or senior high school level.
During my undergrad I tutored about 10 students in Biology, Chemistry, Maths, English and General Science from years 7-12, and received great feedback for my ability to explain concepts in different ways and connect with the students. I believe learning concepts is the best way to learn, particularly in science.
My strengths would lie in any kind of biology, statistics, and scientific writing, but also have highly developed maths and programming skills.
