My lessons are for students of any level of expertise - I can teach you whether you are struggling to understand the concepts or whether you are a high achiever with a great interest in physics and mathematics.
When I teach, I place a lot of emphasis on getting the student to think through the solutions to problems themselves - no wasting time monologuing from me! Physics and Mathematics are inherently about problem solving, and so a proper education in these areas requires the students to be able to think through problems logically, break them down into solvable steps, and find a solution. My teaching style takes this into account by leading the students to the answers by asking them the right questions.
The typical lesson looks like this:
1) I begin by asking the student where they think their understanding is lacking, and what they know and don't know. Many students often answer vaguely or inaccurately about their own knowledge - they're not too great at assessing their own abilities. I try to get them to self-critique, this helps them get a better idea of their own abilities, which is very important knowledge to have.
2) Next, I try to fill the gaps in their knowledge by asking them questions in an attempt to get them to reason to the right answer. If they stumble, I step in and explain how it works, but the very act of articulating the answer, and more importantly the REASONING behind it, builds a far greater understanding of the subject and is more likely to be remembered. So after I explain it to them, I get them to explain it back to me, in their own words.
3) Once they have a good level of understanding of the topic and can solve problems comfortably, I then start working on fluency and speed. This is usually in the form of a short, timed test where I get the students to answer simple questions as quickly as possible. This helps with tests and exams, which often consist of a few easy questions and then 1-3 longer questions that require more time to think. If the easier questions are answered faster, then students have more time to tackle the more complex questions.
Lessons are quite flexible, any changes the student wishes to be made to its structure can be easily arranged. I hope to tailor each lesson to the needs of each student.
No homework will be provided (unless asked for it =) ). I believe that as much learning as possible should be done in the classroom with the teacher present. Assigning extra homework is a lazy way for a teacher to avoid the often difficult task of properly teaching their students.
I will be available online to answer any questions the students may have. Simply send me a text or email and I will answer as soon as possible!
I have been a personal tutor for 2.5 years and have had around 10 or so different students. During this time, I have seen many of my students' average grades increase from around 60% to 80%, with a few exceptional individuals seeing such drastic improvements as going from almost failing at 50% to achieving test scores above 90%.
I have also spent 3 months teaching English, Maths, and Physics full time to high school students in Italy.
Lastly, I have been teaching taekwondo as a 2nd Dan black belt for 2 years.
Specialist Mathematics: 47
Mathematical Methods: 44
ICAS Science Competition 2013 Medal Winner (highest score in Victoria)
Bachelor of Science at Monash University with Distinction average, major in Physics and Applied Mathematics
2.5 years tutoring high school science/mathematics, 2 years teaching taekwondo at Doncaster branch of Melbourne Taekwondo Centre, 3 months teaching full time high school students in Italy. Currently hold a black belt 2nd Dan in taekwondo.

Perfect! I would certainly recommend Kaleb. Kaleb not only provided great insight into what I was learning but also taught me different ways of learning and thinking in order to enhance my ability to problem solve more independently and on the spot.
Tas is highly motivated and ambitious, he tries very hard to learn and do well in his subjects. If I had to suggest one thing to improve, I'd probably say to be more precise with his terminology, but that's a minor thing.
We were fortunate that we found Kaleb on Superprof because he has proven to be a great Maths teacher. He explains not only the 'how' to solving problems but also the 'why'. He is able to come up with relevant application questions on the spot to test understanding of the topic and also to provide more practice for different scenarios. We strongly recommend him to all students, from those who are struggling with Maths to those who would like to get themselves to an advance level.
