Personally I believe learning is all about figuring out WHY things work. This is a philosophy that not only helps you pass your next test, but also sets you up for future learning. So in approaching a subject, I like to start from the very basics and build up to a working understanding. However I also understand different learning styles exist, especially in the STEM fields, and thus try to remain adaptable.
