Methodology

As I explained in the previous paragraph, there are many ways I can set you up so I can teach you cosmetic chemistry. The best is that I send you a box of ingredients of the products you want to make. We go through how you will do that first and the equipment you will need. Then once you have your formulas and ingredients you can have a try on your own first. Everything will be written down and we would have talked about it over and over anyway. If you get into trouble then you call me and we just go through it on facetime or skype etc. and I will help you formulate in real time. Its really exciting and lots of fun.

Background

I am a Scientist by trade in Marine Science, Biology, Chemistry and now I am a professional cosmetic formulator to clients all over the world. I also teach students how to make their own products for sale, or I can teach you one on one about cosmetic chemistry and go through a course (each one is individual to your needds). I will go through emulsions, surfactancts, organic chem, perfumery, how to make natural or organic products.
I usually put a box together of ingredients with the formulas we talk about and I can even help you make the formulas in real time through skype or one of the various platforms. It is lots of fun and there are a lot of jobs for formulators which can take you around the world. In fact I will need to employ people soon, it is such a fast growing career area!
So do not be scared, have a go and we can make one product together and if you do not like it then you are not forced to keep going.
Since Covid, we are not getting our materials and products from overseas. We are going back to relying on our local community and this is a career which is a win win.

The students and I will talk first for at least 30 minutes for free anyway to make sure they want to have a go at cosmetic chemistry, if not that is totally OK!
My students are usually over 16 which means they have left school and are either thinking what they can do for a career or at university and wonder about which direction their career will turn when they finish their degrees. You can be at any stage, everyone is welcome and I know that you will love this career!! Just have a go....Best Catherine

Catherine's CV

I was an academic researcher for the first half of my career attending or working at most of the universities up and down the Australian coast. Then I had 2 little girls and I decided that cosmetic chemistry looked like something I could do while my girls were at school and I could be at home.
Now I have my own business which is growing so fast and I also mentor young people getting into this industry. It is not just for girls as I make everything from toothpaste, shampoo/conditioner, beard oil, shaving cream, face bars, exfoliants with plant materials like Hibiscus. It really is very interesting whether you are male or female.
So I have a Science Degree with a first class honours and a Doctorate in Science, a Research Fellow and a member or fellow of various boards or platforms to always be involved in this industry.
