For subjects in English literature, I like to provide students with the opportunity to read the texts and come to the lesson ready to discuss points, themes or motifs that stand out to them. I would encourage my students, especially for IB English, to practice writing as many commentaries as possible. I would provide them with the opportunity to do this during the lesson and also for homework. The key to radical improvement is constantly writing and being given feedback about one's writing. I would aim to structure my classes in such a way where students not only have a chance to discuss texts and ideas but also have a chance to write.
I am a Master of Arts student in Philosophy at the University of Melbourne. I have completed a Bachelor of Arts (degree with honours) in Philosophy with a first class honours (84%).
I have provided personal tutoring to students in Melbourne and Sri Lanka for subjects in the IB Diploma such as English and Geography. Many of my students have gone on to achieve 6s and 7s in their exams.
I am also able to help provide feedback and proofread and edit the internal assessments(IA) for all subjects in the IB. I can also help with providing feedback for the Extended Essay (EE). I myself achieved an A for both the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge (TOK). My background in Philosophy makes me well-suited to provide help with TOK essays.
