I have spent 18 years as a violinist and work professionally with orchestras, jazz bands, and contemporary music. I have experience with AMEB, ABRSM and Suzuki violin teaching methods and emphasise a deep understanding of music theory to guide my teaching and to build real performance skills. I cover a broad range of musical genres and construct tailored programs which ensure my students understand the path for development as a musician and get the most out of their lessons.
I'm passionate about music and making sure my students are able to share that with me as they learn.
I have found that classical music students often feel a disconnect from the broader musical world which is brought about by the strict discipline of classical training and its emphasis on learning very specific repertoire. As a violinist with experience beyond the classical, I feel that one of my strengths as a teacher is to help my students really find a connection with their instrument that is personal and motivating to them. In this way, my students learn how to be musicians and not simply violinists.
Rates are negotiable depending on student lesson plan discussions and goals. I provide my students with a clear lesson plan and objectives so that they may track their progress and produce better outcomes.
