My ultimate goal is for students to understand what is really going on in a topic, so they can answer any question that is sent their way in a test or exam, without having to hope it is a question they have seen before. I do not encourage students to memorise formulas or recipes, but rather help them to break the problem down into fundamentals and make sure they understand this.
My lessons start with an explanation but jump straight in to a lot of practice - starting easy and working our way up to the complicated ones... but I hope by the time we get to them, they don't look complicated!
I am a Mathematics teacher from Perth. I am qualified with a Bachelor of Science (Mathematics) and a Graduate Diploma in Education. I have been teaching full time for 18 months and have been tutoring for 6 years. I specialise in helping lower- to middle-ability students in Maths who feel they are under-performing because they don't really understand what is going on, and are trying (and failing) to memorise things by rote.
For lessons where I will be travelling to a student's home, cancellations must be made with 24 hours notice or a $30 cancellation fee will apply.
