I believe that students should have a fundamental understanding of how and why something works the way it does instead of training their brain to answer questions they may forget 5 minutes after leaving their exams, which is why I prefer when the students come to their own conclusions rather than me showing them an answer they won't understand. Anyone who is willing to learn should do so with the expectation that they will use those concepts in some way outside of high school. This is the reason why I believe that every student should know about the potential uses of any concept.
I am a university student in QUT studying a Bachelor in Science, majouring in Physics and Chemistry, aiming to become a high school teacher when I graduate. I am especially interested in the Maths aspects of both disciplines and go out of my way to research concepts I may not encounter in my degree. Though I have not professionally tutored before, I do regularly help struggling classmates with maths concepts and problems.
