RMIT Fashion Design Graduate provides creative lessons to high school and uni students
Methodology
As a teacher I strive to create an environment that is fair, supportive and fun. I believe that lessons should be a combination of predictability and creativity. From my time as a swim teacher I learnt that students find comfort in a level of structure and order in activities. From my time as a mentor I learnt that students also respond to a variety of teaching methods. So, I work to devise lesson plans that centre around a key theme or idea and embed a sense of variety to ensure they are productive and engaging.
Background
I am a recent Graduate from RMIT receiving First Class Honours in Fashion Design. Over the years I have had a variety of teaching opportunities. I have experience working with individuals, groups, people of all ages, people with disabilities and those with English as their second language. In my second year at uni, I was selected to participate in a mentoring programme. As a mentor I worked closely with first year students in order to help them achieve their personal and academic goals. Alongside my studies I also worked as as a swim teacher. I taught everyone from babies through to adults and developed a range of skills transferrable to a variety of teaching environments. In both positions I experienced the joys of witnessing students overcoming obstacles and realising all that they were capable of and more.

• Full time work in both the public and private system. I worked seasonally; teaching babies through to adults swim and survival skills.

• A three-month intensive program organised through a local company. I lived with a local family and volunteered in the local school teaching the children and renovating the buildings.
