About the lesson

I approach the lesson based on 2 things only: 1) your current level 2) what do you need the language for

Usually, a goal of being able to "communicate" stays number 1 thing we pay attention to in class.i literally ask my students to tell me something in English and I do a quick bi-lingual cross-reference with Russian. If the sentence, or phrase, stays the same - good for us! We can write it down and memorise it, use it on the same occassion. If the phrase has big changes - even better, now is the time to talk about etimology, tricks that would only work for Russian and cultural history.

I try to approach a language as a world that you just need to mark in a few places to be able to orient in it.

About Varvara

I am Russian, was born in Moscow in 1993 and immigrated to Sydney, Australia 1.5 years ago. Have been teaching Russian on a part-time basis ever since to those inrerested in both Russian culture and language.
