Whether I'm teaching a group or an individual, I find it extremely effective to structure my lessons as follows.
First and foremost, I like to break the ice and ease those '1st lesson jitters' by getting everyone to introduce themselves and just tell us a little bit about what you hope to get out of this.
Once we're all comfortable and relaxed, we dive right in, quickly assessing what level everyone is at through three simple exercises that I developed. Within the first 15 minutes, I'll have an idea where everyone is at, and from that I will decide how best to proceed - regardless of whether there is one student or 10, I have a flexible lesson plan that ensures that everyone get's the one-on-one time they deserve. :)
Although I haven't focused solely on my musical studies, I have now been tutoring and playing gigs for just over a decade. My passion for making music is only surpassed by my calling to teach it. I've always maintained (and more than a few students stand as proof) that I am a more proficient teacher than I am a musician. If you stick with me, I guarantee you will be a more competent (and confident) musician in no time! :)
Geoff is a natural when it comes to anything musical. He has a pleasant relaxed approach to providing guidance, feedback and instruction. I find it easy to recommend Geoff as a musician mentor and instructor.
