As a music and piano teacher, I make it my goal to nurture aspiring young musicians and refine their skills. The methodology behind my teaching are based upon the following:
Empathy and concern
o To be open-minded and responsive to students, and establish a patient and supportive learning environment that promotes a positive attitude towards music
o Present musical concepts and skills
o Develop technical skills and solve technical problems
o Develop music reading and aural skills
o Help students develop a full, rich sound
o Teach the appropriate style and interpretation for a vast repertoire of music
Passion and ability to inspire
o Instil a love for music and learning, and build up their confidence performing music
o Help students express their love for the beauty of music, and to help students communicate through it
Overall, the goal is to provide a balance of the necessary skills for music; technical ability, musical comprehension, and understanding the intentions behind the music.
Music has been an indispensable part of my life, and my passion for music stems from a deep family history of music teachers and appreciators. I have close to two decades experience with my chosen instrument of piano and can play up to AMEB 5th Grade in violin.
I studied Music Education and piano at the Sydney Conservatorium for three years and am now in the second year of a new degree. I currently do piano teaching at home and am often called upon for accompaniment jobs for AMEB student exams. As such, I am very familiar with the AMEB Syllabus and requirements.

Excellent! Very approachable and good!
Joanie is an extremely considerate and friendly person, and is one of my best friends. She is patient and conscientious, always making sure that she has done her work to the best of her ability. She would be a great teacher because she is a very experienced pianist, good at adapting to the individual, and will always want to make others feel comfortable while being able to set goals for you as well.
