Methodology
The lessons I currently offer are conversational English and IELTS speaking preparation lessons.
Conversational lessons are quite laid-back. We can talk about a variety of different topics, or use selected news articles or Ted talk videos as points of discussion.
For IELTS speaking preparation, I like to focus on a topic at a time. I offer useful resources and strategies based on the student's strengths and weaknesses to help them achieve their goal.
Throughout the lessons, I will make corrections, provide vocabulary suggestions and grammatical explanations. In general, I like to encourage students to speak as much as possible, and to help them build their confidence in speaking English.
Background
I completed a TEFL certificate a few years ago and am now currently enrolled in a Graduate Certificate of TESOL at Victoria University.
I have about 3 years' experience teaching English online. Most of the lesson I've taught have been conversational, but I also have experience helping students with grammar, pronunciation, developing their listening skills, and IELTS preparation.
I have a background in Science and worked in the healthcare (pathology) industry for a number of years before I made the decision to change careers.
