I provide tutoring I.T. training to a varied group of learners. Those who have no knowledge of I.T. and those who are seeking to access relevant I.T. courses in college or university. I am very much a hands on tutor who believes that you only learn by doing things for yourself. Self empowerment is the order of the day and that is how you develop your own passion for I.T. and the ability to recognise the possibilities attached to technology.
I have been teaching I.T. for nearly twenty years whether on a one-to-one basis or group basis. I have taught groups with special needs and people recovering from major brain trauma. I have helped support people gaining various level qualifications that have led to them obtaining work or moving onto college/University. My teaching methods are based on the needs of the individual or group in question and lesson plans reflect this. Constant evaluation takes place and informs future approaches and planning.
I am a self-motivated individual with well-developed practitioner and management skills combined with a flexible attitude to work. I set clear measurable objectives, monitor progress, and take corrective action when necessary in order to achieve stated aims. I encourage high standards, verbalises personal and group goals as a desire to do something better – to reach and even exceed personal and group goals. I consistently achieve objectives and use persistence to succeed even when faced with difficult constraints; I am tenacious. I am a strategic and conceptual thinker, a problem solver who is willing and capable of making decisions without prejudice or bias, but is flexible in the process. I create environments in which potential is recognised and colleagues are encouraged to improve and develop personally, as well as organisationally. I delegate authority and responsibility clearly and appropriately in order to accomplish organisational goals, widen experience and enhance individual performance. I involve colleagues at all levels, encourage initiative and recognise achievement. I am a critical thinker with strong analytical skills along with strong team playing skills. I have excellent organisational skills, whilst applying a systems driven approach to my work, developed in a variety of deadline orientated situations. I am very much a people person (client centred), ensuring excellent, professional working relationships gained as a result of working across and within different business organisational settings; including various public, private and voluntary organisations. I have developed excellent interpersonal skills, business skills and Information Technology skills, which I continue to develop so they are up-to-date and relevant. I am extremely proactive, patient, and highly adaptable (regardless of the situation). I am target driven and capable of working under extreme pressure, as well as managing and controlling conflict as I am very much a lateral thinker. I excel in the core elements of working with people, ‘Engagement’ strategies, ‘Relationship’ development, ‘Communication’ approaches and ‘Transition’ stages whilst working ‘SMARTER’ at all times. In short, I am a ‘client centred’ professional who is reliable, trustworthy, hardworking and eager to develop new skills whilst strengthening those I already possess.
