I take a historical approach when teaching contemporary geopolitics. I find that a historical understanding helps students analyse current events on their own. In terms of essay help, I focus predominantly on clarity of written expression and logical argumentation. I don't believe in spoon-feeding knowledge, and will focus on giving students the tools to interpret the world and express their own ideas.
In 2019 I completed an Honours thesis in international relations. I analysed China's rise as a naval power in Asia and suggested how Australia could respond. I focussed on China's geopolitical interests, it's military modernisation and strategy, and the South China Sea. I situated my research findings within the context of decades of Australian defence and foreign policy planning, as well as American military strategy in Asia.
As such, I am well placed to teach and comment on contemporary events relating to geopolitics in Asia, particularly concerning China.
I received first-class honours, and was able to present my findings at the Australian Institute of International Affairs.
