Hi everyone, my name is Giulia and I'm an Italian teacher in Australia!
I was born and raised in Italy and I'll be glad to help you improve your Italian, no matter what you need it for.
I was a private tutor before moving to Japan and then Australia, and I mainly worked with middle schoolers. Over the past year, I worked as a language assistant at a secondary school in Melbourne and I haven't stopped teaching ever since, as I'm currently teaching beginner adults as well.
Having worked with such a varied range of students, and having been a language student myself, I know that each learner is different, so I try to build my strategy around what their learning needs and styles are.
In my lessons, my students will TALK (a lot!) because I believe that communication should be the main purpose of language teaching and learning. I will also make sure that all the key grammar points, vocabulary, correct pronunciacion and accent will be addressed in the most accessible way possible.
If you're an absolute beginner, we will start from the very basics and you'll see how much progress you'll be able to make in just a few weeks with consistent and effective practice. You don't need to buy anything for this class, because it will mostly consist of 5 simple activities:
* Taking notes while we examine the grammar together
* Repeat Repeat REPEAT (for pronunciation, accent, intonation)
* Conversation practice
* Written practice
* Homework (I know, I know. But trust me, it'll pay off!)
So you'll only need a notebook and a pen! Anything else such as exercise sheets, passages to read and other activity materials will be provided by me. :)
If you're an intermediate or advance student, you tell me what you want or need to focus on and I'll prepare each lesson according to that, easy :)
We will always have nice chats about topics of YOUR choice but I'll still sneak in some grammar rules to make all the chit-chat effective.
To monitor your progress, I'll also give you small tasks to carry out during the lesson (sometimes you will be timed to spice things up) and at home regularly, so that by the time we meet for the following class we're ready to pick up where we left off.
Or, you know, if you just need me to help you out with your homework or to simply chat in Italian during these trying times of isolation, I totally got you. ☆
I am a Japanese studies graduate from Italy and I've just completed a Language assistance program at a Catholic secondary school in Melbourne, where I supported the staff teaching Italian and Japanese from year 7 to 12.
At the moment, I teach evening Italian classes catered for adult students at a private school, while waiting to start my master of teaching (secondary) here in Melbourne.
I'm also experienced as a private tutor, since I've done it for years throughout my time as a university student. I mainly helped students of different year levels with English, Italian, Japanese and Humanities.
My experiences as a tutor include a 6-month internship at a primary school in Rome, where I helped students of foreign backgrounds who struggled with written and spoken Italian.
