About Liam
Bonjour! I am a 20 year old college junior who started studying French during my first year at university. Since then, I have taken 6 consecutive semesters of French class and lived in France for over 6 months! In just under 3 years of study, I have improved my French from no knowledge to near fluency in the language! I did this through intensive classes and throwing myself right into the deep end of language by living in France. I hope to use this same model for my students, with lessons that aim to craft their French personas and create scholars of language!

I use the EDGE method in my teaching. Explain, Demonstrate, Guide, and Enable. These four tenets of my teaching philosophy will help you to not only speak French and understand the language, but also to learn the nature of language and the social place of French in the modern world. A typical lesson with me would start with general grammar/vocabulary review, but would continue into a lesson about how to use certain phrases in different social environments. For example, how to order a gluten-free option at a restaurant, how to speak to the doctor when in need of medical help, or how to use public transit in Francophone countries. These lessons will be based on my personal experience living in France, with the goal of not just making the student more proficient in the language, but also proficient in Francophone customs.
