"We can do this the easy way or the hard way". Alan Kay often gets credit for this quip but nobody's sure of its real origins. Dr Kay is an American computer scientist famous for pioneering object-oriented computer programming. Legend has it that he uttered that phrase while explaining aspects of his novel programming concepts.

But this phrase applies to anything, even language learning. Some language students set out to learn the most complex tongues - Polish, with its seven grammatical cases and gendered nouns, is a fine example of such. Others gravitate towards Mandarin, whose writing system and grammar are so streamlined that it takes hardly any time to master.

Hindi, like Mandarin, falls into the 'easy' camp, especially for native English speakers. It's slightly more complex than the Chinese tongue but nowhere near as convoluted as Polish. In fact, Hindi is grammatically similar to English so your Hindi language classes won't be grammar-heavy.

Even nature takes the path of least resistance. Water finds ways around dams and electricity will take the quickest path to ground. Why should a language student struggle to learn a difficult language when learning Hindi is so accessible? And Hindi classes Melbourne are indeed accessible; just look at all the ways you could learn Hindi Melbourne.

Hindi Classes Melbourne at The Grange

Melbourne is home to a few large Hindu communities; some members of these communities have been making Melbourne culturally rich for decades. Many have married here and started families of their own. Now, they're keen for their children to learn their mother tongue. We see the same search for Hindi lessons in cities across Australia for this very reason.

Thus, it should come as no surprise that Melbourne has a school offering a Hindi curriculum. You probably know The Grange as a Prep-12 college; it's a well-established learning facility. You might not know that this school offers a full Hindi study program. The Grange welcomes everyone to enquire about Hindi lessons, not just school-aged students.

The Grange trialled its Hindi learning program at the preparatory level on their Callistemon campus. There, it met with such success that the school's administrators expanded the program. Today, The Grange keeps two native Hindi speakers on staff to lead the learning.

The Grange's academic Hindi courses are tailored to school-aged students. But, as mentioned above, this school welcomes the community into their Hindi classes. Obviously, adult language learners won't attend classes with the children; The Grange will help adults find Hindi lessons within the community.

But if you have a school-aged child, enrolling them in this Hindi learning program would be an excellent idea. The Grange's Hindi teachers address all aspects of language learning, including reading, writing, speaking and listening. In contrast with the Saraswati School in Adelaide, The Grange focuses more on the academics of Hindi learning. Still, it's great that this Melbourne school offers a Hindi program to even the youngest students.

Learn Hindi Melbourne With the Council of Adult Education

But older students have reasons to learn Hindi, too. You might be a university student planning your graduate studies in Agra or Gujarat, taking advantage of India's excellent higher education programs. Your university prospectus might say the course is in English but you'll need Hindi language skills when you leave campus and explore the region. Besides, it's good manners to show this respect to your host country.

The same holds if you're in business, and looking to expand into overseas markets. Your counterparts in India will likely speak English but you can build rapport by learning courtesy phrases in Hindi. You don't have to stop there, though. You can expand your studies to learn Business Hindi.

Or perhaps you've attended a few Hindu events the Victorian Multicultural hosted. Now, you want to satisfy your curiosity to learn more about Hindu language and culture. Whatever your reasons for learning this language, the Council of Adult Education (CAE) can help you find the Hindi lessons you're looking for.

CAE offers courses in many languages from Korean to Greek. Unfortunately, Hindi is not on their rotation of offered courses but you may request a Hindi class. Or you might ask CAE to help you find a qualified Hindi teacher.

Now, a quick shoutout to anyone who is a native Hindi speaker: you may volunteer your services as a Hindi tutor. CAE has five campuses in and around Melbourne; you're bound to be close to one. That way, students can find Hindi classes Melbourne as easily as locating Hindi tutoring in Brisbane.

Hindi Classes Melbourne With a Language Centre

Melbourne has the good fortune of being home to two language training ventures: Listen and Learn and Language Trainers. Both companies got their start elsewhere in the world but soon established offices in our city. They give Melbourne Hindi students more access to in-person lessons than, say, a Hindi Student in Perth.

Both of these language businesses deliver lessons online across Australia so Hindi students across Australia won't be deprived of lessons. And even if you live in Melbourne, you can take Hindi lessons online with either Language Trainers or Listen and Learn. Both companies offer you to flexibility to schedule your Hindi lessons as you see fit.

You may also choose which Hindi lessons suit your situation the best. If you're planning a holiday traversing the Hindi Belt - the north-Indian region that stretches into Pakistan and Bangladesh, Conversational Hindi lessons would be great. These lessons focus on speaking and listening skills but you'll still spend time learning how to read and write the Devanagari script.

These two companies' main selling point is their Hindi language exam preparation courses. Like any other language learner, students of Hindi take proficiency exams to certify their language skills. The Hindi exam series is called Avant STAMP. Business Hindi students may take the STAMP Pro exam. Both exams rely on cultural documents and audio one might find in everyday situations.

Listen and Learn and Language Trainers offer STAMP training courses alongside their other lesson formats. Let's return to our business scenario mentioned in the previous section. Except instead of only you needing to learn Business Hindi, your company wants your whole section to learn this language. You might contact one or both of those language training concerns to see what kind of deal they would make you on group Hindi lessons.

These two language-learning firms have brand recognition going for them and they've been around for a long time. They have an established curriculum and a set teaching method. However, some language students prefer to take more of a lead in their learning.

If you're open to taking Hindi lessons online, you have a wider selection of Hindi tutors to choose from. Their more informal setting allows for greater diversity in teaching methods and materials. Such a tutor may be more flexible to your learning needs and may even incorporate more cultural elements into your lessons.

Hindi Classes Melbourne Online

Across Australia, we found that online tutoring platforms offered language learners the greatest access to Hindi classes. Hindi lessons online afford you and your tutor access to digital media like music videos and clips from your favourite Bollywood film. On a more practical note, you can record your online Hindi lessons and play them back as a refresher while you study on your own.

You may also capture images on your screen whenever your tutor shows images or examples of Hindi writing. Today's technology - particularly educational technology (EdTech) like interactive whiteboards makes online lessons more engaging. Superprof Hindi tutors maximise all of these features to make your learning sessions more productive.

This year, Superprof celebrates 10 years as a leader in online learning. The Superprof tutoring community is millions strong around the world, nearly 16,000 of which are Hindi tutors. You may learn Hindi from a Superprof Ambassador - a tutor with stellar teaching skills and years of experience teaching Hindi online.

Or you may prefer face-to-face lessons with a Melbourne-based Superprof Hindi tutor. You'll find 14 Hindi Superprofs in and around Melbourne; most of whom give their first Hindi lesson free. Many Superprof Hindi tutors offer bundled lessons at a discount; they may further reduce their price for Hindi lessons online. At an average rate of $24 per hour of instruction, it's hard to go wrong with a Superprof Hindi tutor.

Other tutoring platforms, Preply and Amazing Talker among them, aren't quite so organised. These platforms provide a space for tutors to advertise their services, much as Superprof's platform does. But learning everything you need to know before deciding on the right tutor for you can be time-consuming.

We had the best luck looking for online Hindi classes in Sydney. But all across Australia, we found Hindi tutors engaged in lively lessons. When you find your Superprof or a tutor from another large platform like italki and the ones mentioned above, you too will join in the learning. Whether you prefer to take Hindi lessons online or in person, finding Hindi classes Melbourne is a snap.
