Those who wish to sing always find a song.

Swedish proverb

Perth has no shortage of musical culture. We're home to the Western Australia Symphony Orchestra and the West Australian Opera. We host Australia's longest-running festival, in which music plays a part. The Perth Festival serves as a showcase for solo singing acts, bands, hip-hop artists and chorale groups.

All of those vocalists, from opera singers to rappers, took lessons to control their breath and project their voices. That shows us that Perthlings have options for learning how to sing. This table sums up the best the best places to learn how to sing, ahead of a more detailed list below.

Perth Singing Academy

This Academy welcomed its first singing students more than 25 years ago. Anthea Allen, the school's founder, director, and head teacher, plans each lesson around students' abilities and singing goals. The Academy offers beginner lessons for children and adults, as well as more advanced lessons for experienced vocalists.

The Perth Singing Academy offers singing classes in five divisions. The Performance section accepts students aged six, all the way to adult vocalists.

Otherwise, the courses break down as follows: kids (6 - 12), teens (13 - 16), young adults (17 - 21), and adults (22+). For your free trial lesson, you can call or go to:

Hannah Harris Voice Studio

Hannah Harris is registered with the Institute for Vocal Advancement (IVA) as a certified instructor. She is the head voice coach and owner of this voice studio, and she bases her curriculum around four elements. They are: vocal health, vocal technique, musicianship skills, and performance skills.

Hannah welcomes adults who want to learn how to sing, whether they're absolute beginners or experienced vocalists. She's happy to teach children 16 and older how to sing, too.

Before your first lesson, she will ask about your singing goals, and if you have a performance to prepare for. She will also ask about your vocal health, and any musical training you've had.

Sue Kingham Vocal Studio (SKVS)

Like Hannah Harris, Sue Kingham is an IVA-certified vocal instructor. Her performance record reaches back to the 60s, when she performed with with Hothouse, a Latin-jazz fusion band. As a performer, Sue took every chance to expand her vocal repertoire, including pop and rock vocal stylings.

Now established in Perth, she offers some of the best singing lessons in Australia. She brings her considerable experience as a performer and mentor, for children, teens and adults. You may attend individual classes or join one of her workshops. Whether you have any singing experience, or only want to strengthen your public speaking voice, Sue has a program for you.

Simon Robinson Voice

Simon says there are no born singers. To use your voice properly, you must train it, and keep working at it. That's where Simon comes in. He follows the Speech Level Singing Method (SLS), which focuses on breathing from the diaphragm, and keeping the larynx relaxed.

Simon learned this method, and other vocal skills, during his music education at Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA).

Now, he teaches future singers of all ages and abilities, from beginners to experienced vocalists. You might pay as much as anyone taking singing lessons in Sydney, but learning to sing with Simon is worth it.

Rock Scholars

This music school's name gives their game away. They teach guitar, drums, bass, and keyboard, all instruments for a rock band. However, they will also teach you how to sing. And, if you already know how, they can teach you how to sing better.

Rock Scholars isn't a traditional music school, it's a learning community filled with music enthusiasts. They established their cooperative in 2008, and have since grown to become a full facility. Their vocal coaches offer singing lessons for teens and older, from absolute beginners to those with singing experience.

Forte Music

This brand is an international franchise that offers singing lessons in Adelaide, Sydney, and other major cities, including Perth. In fact, Forte teaches a range of musical skills, including reading music and playing instruments. They welcome young children as well as adults interested in learning to sing.

Much of their program is targeted at teaching children music skills. If you have a child who wants to take voice lessons, you can book a free trial to see if Forte is the right school for them - and, for you. While you're at it, why not schedule singing lessons for yourself? You'll find adult voice coaches, at Forte, too.

Western Australia Performance School

If you're ready to get serious about vocal training, the Western Australia Performance School (WAPS) is the place for you. They've partnered with Kosmic Sound to develop a singing and piano training program. Now, they invite anyone looking for instruction on how to learn singing.

These lessons are only open to adult singers, from absolute beginners to advanced-level vocalists. You'll learn some music theory, such as reading music and rhythm training. More importantly, you'll learn the difference between head and chest voice, and when to use them.

You might take singing lessons Perth from any voice coach, but this program makes your vocal skills official.

West Coast Music

Like others on our list of learning how to sing places, West Coast teaches a full music program. You can learn how to play a musical instrument, and/or train your voice. The best singing teachers in Brisbane use many of the methods West Coast does, including a hybrid learning system.

That doesn't mean you'll learn to sing online and only pop into the studio once a month. West Coast conducts a one-hour Group Musicianship Sessions, where everyone comes together to share experiences.

Parents looking for singing lessons for their kids can sign up here. West Coast Music has voices teachers for child and adult lessons, for beginner to advanced skill levels.

Vocal Tech

Gareth Henderson found his calling early. While still a secondary school student, he was already performing in London-area clubs. Now, more than 40 years later, Gareth has perfected the vocal instruction techniques he learnt throughout his career.

As a Vocology in Practice member, he's spent the last 25 years teaching singing - NOT teaching people how to sing. Even the best singing lessons in Sydney often overlook this crucial difference. Gareth won't simply listen to you sing, and then tell you what you did well (or did wrong). Whether a child or adult, beginner or experienced vocalist, he will help develop the vocal skills to meet your goals.

Bright Star Vocals

Most people who begin singing lessons have no understanding of how their voice works. Perhaps they think of their voice box like their car: they don't need to know how it works to make it work. Belinda Butler, Bright Star's lead voice coach, begs to differ (and so does every car mechanic on the planet!). To use an instrument to its maximum potential, you must understand how it functions.

Students who take singing lessons at Bright Star include absolute beginners, as well as those who want to improve their vocal performance. They range in age from five years to older adults.

Belinda is ready to help people who want to improve their public speaking abilities, as well as those dreaming of fronting a band. Anyone taking singing lessons in Melbourne would be jealous of such a teacher!

Amore Music

Amore is a young music school, compared to many in the Perth area. It opened its doors in 2017, and has since expanded to include other performance-oriented programs. Singing lessons are still their bread and butter, though.

Unlike many of the schools we looked at, Amore puts their emphasis on students enjoying their lessons. That doesn't mean they're not serious about teaching people how to sing. They welcome vocalists of all ages and abilities, and want to know each of their students' voice training goals. Then, they will shape the lessons to help their learners sing the way they always knew they could.

In closing: people seeking singing lessons Brisbane have found their ideal singing teacher on Superprof. There's a good chance you will, too. If none of these singing courses suit your schedule or budget, you don't have to give up your voice training goals. See what kind of deals you can find with Superprof's vocal coaches.
