Music is a major part of how Sydney defines itself. So, it's no surprise that music classes abound. Degree programs, like those at the University of New South Wales, have their place, of course. But we want to look at courses that don't require a four-year commitment or result in formal qualifications.

Singing Sydney
Some music schools offer courses on how to play the guitar, drums or other musical instruments alongside singing lessons. Singing Sydney focuses only on training your voice.

Emma Dean Sings
In 2005, an all-female acappella group called Kaya auditioned for X-Factor, ultimately claiming fourth place. The quartet launched themselves on a frenzy of appearances, from sold-out shows to TV appearances. Emma Dean was the powerhouse behind that 'fun experiment'.
She hasn't stopped her music career in favour of teaching, nor has her passion for music dimmed. Indeed, teaching people how to learn to sing fuels her desire to fill the world with music. Her singing school offers three learning tracks: for kids 6-11 years, teens, and adults.
Nowhere in Adelaide could we find such targeted singing lessons.

Eleni's Vocal Coaching
In Sydney, we note an unusual aspect of reviewing singing facilities that didn't feature when we looked for singing lessons Brisbane. Many of these studios feature the owner/directors' names, rather than some clever play on words. In Eleni's case (and Emma's, above), she deserves all the credit due her for the way she runs her singing school.
For more than 10 years, she has been teaching children and adults how to sing. She specialises in contemporary vocal coaching, but she also teaches Greek singing.

Joseph Raso Vocal Coach
Often, when people look for quality instruction in any subject, they turn to established facilities with sterling reputations. Joseph Raso is a relative newcomer to the voice training business. He started teaching in 2012, and graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium in 2019. Still, don't pass him up too quickly, as he has a lot to offer.
Through his partnership at the Australian Performing Arts Grammar School, he has lots of experience working with children. He's created an entire vocal development program suitable for anyone learning how to sing. And, of all the vocal coaches we're reviewed, he's the only one who trains voice actors. My mate, who took singing lessons in Brisbane, assured me her music school offered no such course.
