About Mark
My passion has always been drawing, especially architecture. Italy is my muse with its rich history of medieval and baroque cityscapes and buildings. The cubist forms of old hilltop towns with sunlight hitting roofs and shadows defining the houses, are totally captivating. But I don't always like to draw a literal representation. I am an Art Director in advertising working in Melbourne. I've been creating concepts and design solutions for print and tv communications for many years.

I like to teach how to draw exclusively in pen and ink. I encourage daily drawing in sketchbooks and will explore concepts of light, mood and realism (or not). Subject matter can be from life or from found images. Concentrating on the conceptual and compositional areas of image making, I will show students how to rearrange, or omit details in order to deliver an original view of the subject. The basics of perspective, proportion, mark making and selection of materials are all important areas to master.
