About Celeste
With a love of languages and travel, I have been teaching French and English to individuals, small groups and classes for several years. This includes privately, at the Université de Caen, and for charities, in both Britain and France. Students range from school pupils to university students, from businesspeople to job-seekers. They may need support with schoolwork and written exams, wish to practice speaking and aural skills, be competent linguists or complete beginners.
I have an MPhil in Education from the University of Cambridge, and a first class BA Hons in French and Music from the University of Sheffield. I also have an MSt in Music from the University of Oxford, and provide Music lessons too!
I grew up in the UK, but lived and worked in France for several years. Today I continue to spend a lot of my time time there!

I am a creative tutor, and aim to make lessons as enjoyable and effective as possible. I like to get to know my students, shaping my teaching to their interests as well as their needs. Sessions depend on the aims of the individual or group, and can contain speaking, reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar, and listening work. I like to include games and creative activities that make the learning process enjoyable and reinforce understanding through practical application.

I am eager to make my lessons accessible, and rates are negotiable. Please do get in touch if they are genuinely prohibitive.
During this period where many are being impacted by COVID, I have lowered my fees in order to make language-learning more accessible.
£20 / hr
£15 / 30 mins
- With a first *free* session of 45 minutes, in which I generally get to know students, their aims, needs and interests, to effectively prepare for following sessions.
- After this I usually recommend hour-long lessons, although times can be adapted for the individual, and younger students may be better suited to 30 or 45 minute sessions.
