Lorissa is an absolutely wonderful teacher who inspired both my girls with her teaching over a 7 year period. My eldest did singing with her including musical theatre, classical (opera) and rock and pop and for her final Grade 5 exams she was recognised as one of the Trinity top achievers that year as a result of Lorissa's wonderful guidance. The transformation that she achieved was remarkable from a somewhat unsure young girl who would strain to reach the high notes to a mature, confident performer with a significantly expanded range and really remarkable projection and tone. The way she patiently guided her in shaping her sound was nothing short of remarkable. As a result of Lorissa's support she did well getting Gold Plus in a number of Eisteddfods and singing competitions. They had such fun in the lessons - it was always the highlight of my daughters week. She also really loved being able to take part in the wonderful productions Lorissa produced and choreographed. My youngest did piano with her and Lorissa was able to adapt her approach to this completely different child somewhat more temperamental personality starting with classical but soon sensing that her real passion was Jazz. Her final exam with Lorissa was her Grade 2 Rockshool exam for which she achieved 88%. Both my girls continue to practice their music - it is now an integral part of their lives as a result of the inspiring start to their musical lives. Lorissa really loves her craft and she transmits this joy of music to her pupils through her lessons. I believe it will enrich their whole lives.
Hi Australia... we let go of a wonderful music teacher! She taught my daughter, Diana, for 4 years vocal and got her to her 5th grade of Trinity. Lorissa is a patient teacher with clear aims and goals. She gently directs her pupils in the right direction and encourages them to reach for their dreams. We are very grateful for all you did for my girls!
I had the privilege of working with Lorissa during my Honours year for a Cabaret degree. She did extensive work with me regarding my range and theoretical components of music. I was always reluctant when it came to music theory and had difficulty breaking barriers with my higher register. Lorissa is a kind and understanding teacher, who will certainly adapt herself to your pace, whilst still encouraging you to try harder every day. She helped me to develop a vocal health maintenance program, which I still use today- a year later. I am now able to read music and have a solid theoretical foundation to assist my practice. Lorissa never got impatient with my continuous challenging and questioning. She rather used my interests and selected material to compliment the questions I had regarding theory. Lorissa is extremely punctual, hardworking and reliable. Lessons with her will never leave you feeling humiliated or “not good enough”, but rather the humility in her style will leave you feeling empowered and free to explore. I will recommend Lorissa to anyone who is interested in a well-structured, creative and personal approach to music.
As an an examiner for DanceCor, an association of Dance Teachers in South Africa, I had the privilege of examining Lorissa Brink's Musical Theatre and Dance pupils. Each age group was beautifully trained in dance and performed with enthusiasm.
Knowing Lorissa's singing training, I then requested singing lessons for myself from Lorissa in order to assist my own Musical Theatre pupils improve on their singing skills. She was a patient and thorough teacher. I learnt a great deal from her to improve my own voice and to pass on this knowledge to others. I then organised a workshop every term for Lorissa to teach my pupils directly. Their improvement after each workshop was remarkable. They really enjoyed her playful style of teaching, her insistence on the clarity of the words and her help with their breathing and acting.
She was always a wonderful support in assisting me with teaching tools as well. I thoroughly recommend her as both a dance coach and singing coach for all ages and all levels

Examiner DanceCorMy daughter has been taking singing lessons with Lorissa for the last +-5years here in South Africa until she moved to Australia. Lorissa is an amazingly talented teacher and her absolute passion for singing shines through. Jade always commented after her lessons that Lorissa made it fun and Jade progressed so well as she had never sung before starting with Lorissa. We would highly recommend Lorissa!
For the last 15 years, Lorissa has worked with me in my Studio as well as in her own Studio, teaching music, Musical Theater and various forms of Dance. She has written, choreographed and organized Theatre Productions, School Concerts, Mini productions with big groups as well as with individuals. She works with integrity, is creative, trustworthy, enthusiastic and totally reliable. She understands how to communicate with people with patience and passion so that they understand and grasp the material on offer. She has all the qualities that one can wish for in a Teacher.
