About Jon

As a Contemporary Gospel recording artist, I have recorded 10 solo albums, and have been awarded 22 top ten hits, 9 number 1 songs, along with a Christian Contemporary "Album of the Year." One of my albums was featured in Time/Life's publication of "The 100 Greatest Christian Albums." I have a vocal duet with Stevie Wonder to be released April of 2025. I attribute my success to 2 things: 1, my natural God-given gift, and 2, my mastery of the speech level vocal technique. I've taught many others, and I can teach it to you.

About the lesson

I am an award-winning producer, recording artist, and vocalist. I've worked with Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and many others. I teach "speech level singing," a technique that increases your range, control, and allows you to record and perform effortlessly. Singers that use this technique are able to sing at a professional level well into their old age.

The lesson: The object of my teaching is to identify your chest voice and your head voice. Once that is established, the next step is to connect them so that the two work seamlessly together. This increases longevity, range and control.

What is your chest voice? You're chest is your natural born vocal range. When you reach the top of that range, It becomes a strain and your muscles interfere and choke out the sound.

What is your head voice? Your head voice is developed by bypassing your chest voice at a certain point and pushing air through your sinus cavities. Like your chest voice, the sound is controllable and can be manipulated using the same throat muscles you use for your chest voice.

The key is to seamlessly connect where your chest voice ends and your head voice begins so that it sounds smooth and cohesive. This is accomplished by practicing a series of exercises which I will show you, along with creating piano scale mp3s to assist you in your practice. These will be custom made for you for your voice and range.

Once it clicks, wow, and there is no other way to say it, It just clicks and becomes automatic in your singing. Once that happens it's done and we've accomplished what we set out to do. You range has now increased and your ability to sing smoothly without strain is automatic.
