About Dilini
With a robust academic background, extensive teaching experience, and a passion for student development, I am confident in my ability to contribute effectively to your school community.
Currently, I am awaiting the final semester results of my Master of Education from the National Institute of Education, Sri Lanka, where I have achieved a GPA of 3.76 with First Class honors. My research focuses on 'How STEM Education Affects Workforce Readiness'. Additionally, I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Education and a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, specializing in Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Botany, with Second Class honors. My academic journey is further enriched by my current pursuit of a Diploma in Childcare Management at APEX Global Education. This diverse educational background has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of pedagogical theories and practices, particularly in the sciences.
Over the past decade, I have held various teaching positions, instructing subjects such as Science, Mathematics, Science for Technology, and Chemistry (Pearson Edexcel IGCSE, IAS, IAL, National A/L Curriculum) at prestigious institutions in Sri Lanka. These institutions include Amana International School as a Middle School Science and Health teacher, Royal International School, Asian Grammar School as a Middle school Science, Mathematics and Health teacher, Colombo International School, Maliyadeva College, Ananda College, Lyceum International School, and Royal International School, where I have taught for over 10 years. In my most recent role as a Chemistry Subject Teacher and Science Subject Coordinator at Royal International School, I was responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive science curriculum, supporting fellow teachers with lesson planning, and conducting professional development workshops. These roles have honed my skills in curriculum development, classroom management, student assessment, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
My teaching philosophy centers on the belief that every student has the potential to excel when provided with the right guidance and support. I am committed to creating a dynamic and engaging classroom atmosphere where students are encouraged to think critically and explore their interests. My experience in using diverse teaching methods and materials allows me to cater to various learning styles, ensuring that each student can achieve their full potential.
In addition to my teaching experience, I have served as a Science Subject Co-Ordinator, where I was responsible for curriculum development, instructional support, and professional development for the science faculty. This role required me to stay current with the latest educational trends and scientific advancements, which I incorporated into the curriculum to enhance student learning outcomes.
