About Helen
As well as being a tertiary tutor, I have been a Curriculum Manger for the NSW Police Academy where I assited in re-designing the content and delivey of all Police Training from Detective Education to Recruit training. As an instructional designer for the Australian Defence Force Academy, I helped content experts (lecturers) design and create programs online so students could access their training from submarines to being in war zone deployment or on campus.
In the Middle East, where I lived for 4 years (Qatar), I helped the Supreme Education Council change their education system to be based on student-centred learning. I also taught in a government high school in Brunei for one year.
I can help with accent expression, academic work (humanities only) and building your self-confidence for interview or seminar work. I used to tutor doctors in Egypt

I always start at the proficiency level the student has attained and listen to their main goals and needs. I analyse writing, speaking and comprehension very quickly and set goals with the student. Lessons are usually one hour and I have taught students from 10 years of age to business people in their place of work. Of course I have tutored at university in small and larger groups, but individual or partner work if also very efficient.
