About Lea
I have been a counsellor and life coach for almost 20 years. I also coordinate a small volunteer organisation that delivers community development and tutoring/mentoring in South Africa, Tanzania and Kenya.
Teaching English in these countries, in schools and to community members, has resulted in improved comprehension, written and oral skills. This has subsequently increased admission to colleges and universities, improved CV's and interview skills for job seekers, enabled confidence to speak English outside their village communities, and significantly impacted on their capacity to read and understand written English documents, instructions and information across many subject areas (driving tests, medical, legal, accounting, and more).
I studied Sociology and English (Arts degree), have a certificate in Brain-based Coaching, have a TAFESA certificate for English as a Second Language tutor, tutored voluntarily to Iraqi families through the TAFE volunteer program, tutored English and computing to Bhutanese and Iranian refugees through Lutheran Community Care, and completed a WEA Teaching English as a Second Language refresher course in 2018.
I love working with people from other cultures and now wish to offer my skills locally in Adelaide. I hope to work alongside international students and also new Australian residents who have at least a basic command/understanding of English.

2. Allows for initial assessment of their level of English comprehension
3. Understand clearly the requirements of the student - assignment support, grammar, basic English, written, oral, comprehension, etc. The student sets the agenda, I set the process.
4. Discuss potential tutoring program with student, ensuring mutual understanding and agreement.
5. Agree on hourly/weekly tutoring appointment schedule and supporting homework where relevant
6. Design tutoring program according to the requirements of each individual student.
7. Tutoring aids that bring expansion of fun, interest and wider learning are included, where appropriate.
