About Lorna
During my 12 years of college teaching, I utlizied a variety of teaching strategies in my face to face lecture and lab courses. As an artist, I encouraged my students to draw and sketch as much as possible, and promoted collaboration and peer support. My classes were tough, but I was always willing to go out of my way to help any student who needed extra assistance in mastering the course content. My knowledge was matched by my enthusiasm for the subject matter and a sincere desire to enable my students to grasp difficult concepts and succeed in their academic endeavors.

I approach each topic holistically, in that I try to get students to see the importance of each concept and how it will relate to their real world application in their careers. Most of my students were pre-nursing or nursing majors, and it was important for me to make the material relevant. I would use case studies frequently, and encouraged critical thinking and scientific literacy by assigning research projects that required students to learn to discern factual information from pseudoscience.
