  • Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

The passion for music in me emerged when I was 4 years old. With no formal training in the field, I started singing and playing musical instruments by myself and gradually I started getting passionate about this field. Since then there's been no turning back. Started from representing in the school choir at 6 & then receiving awards from various eminent musicians (Ms. Tulsi Kumar), I feel my passion for music and the hunt to serve better in the field kept on growing. Then came a point in life when I represented India in the 67th International music festival, which was held in Russia and bagged the 2nd prize over there. It still feels like a dream to have achieved this laurel for the country.
  • What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

The motivation is music. I love the subject so much that I want potential students to learn the same in the best possible manner. From once being a student, I identified various loopholes in the teaching pedagogy of teachers because of which it hampered the learning part of students. Since then I took the pledge to become better day by day, week by week and year by year, so that one day I am capable of teaching students what I've learned by practicing since 16+ years. Now I feel honoured to have come on the other side of the table and teach students with all the efforts and understanding about the subject. Teaching students the right way makes me feel obliged that I can enhance their skills in the right way and in the right manner so that they can serve in music better than me.
  • How does your work help society?

Hitherto I have taught a bunch of students and taken various webinars through which I've passed on my knowledge of music to them.

I've invested my time in and out with students who have portrayed a lot of interest in the field and have helped them win various competitions. I believe it's a chain if you serve better in the music industry you get to hear better music, better things and better experiences of people and all this process becomes nonchalantly melodious to the world of music. India has a rich heritage of music, but it is absent from the wish list of students passionate about music because of lack of awareness about the plethora of opportunities the industry has. While working with my students I'm also creating a community where students not only learn the best industry trends, but are also aware about the right opportunities at the right time to go for in the industry. I believe through my work I'm able to set a belief in students that we can consider music, if done in the right manner and under right guidance, music as a full-time profession and not just a hobby, which is currently the belief in our country.
  • If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

When I was growing up, I had many role models in music. I've been reflecting on those role models and the influence they had on me. I know popular music has almost always been about rebellion and pushing boundaries, that's nothing new and I played my part in that too when I was a young artist. The one I resemble and kind of the biggest being Richa Sharma ma'am. I've read her biography and any press I could find and found it very inspiring. Her music, her ambition and her way of pushing herself to get things done and achieving influenced and inspired me. I could see how she did things to stand out and how she was loved by the public for this.

There were many traits beside them, which I got while admiring her throughout my journey in the industry until now:

    • Don't be afraid to work hard
    • Dream Big
    • Be unique so that you stand out
    • Trust the process
  • Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

To talk about my hobbies, I don't really think it would be difficult for you to guess them by now. But I'll make it clear to all the readers now. I consider myself fortunate enough to make my passion and hobby as a career. Very few people have this opportunity and I feel really obliged for the same. However, during my free time I discover new music. Apart from that I'm into sports as well, I've won various awards in sports too. So summing up, I usually explore music, play sports and teach underprivileged students in my free time.
  • Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

From being a girl born in a family of non musicians on 13 June 2000 to achieving big dreams, little did anyone know this daughter is going to take the family name to further heights. With expertise in almost all instruments with no training & with a melodious singing voice I started my musical career right at 4. Then came a point in life when I got the opportunity to outcast my talent on stage at 6 and since then there has been no turning back. With over 50+ shows till date and badging various awards at the events I feel music loves me as much as I love it. Later, I got the opportunity to represent India at the 67th International Music Festival at 17 and was fortunate enough to be awarded the 2nd position for the same. After a few months hit another milestone of receiving the best soloist award from none other than Ms Tulsi Kumar. Being an Economics graduate & after having a job offer to work at a top MNC with a high paying salary, I refused the offer and pledged to serve the music industry. I wanted to revolutionise how people think about it as a profession and give the best of the teachings in the industry. Since then I've helped various students to learn music and explore the field. Now I even teach underprivileged students who have the desire to learn music but don't have sufficient funds to pay the fees, I teach them for free and help them buy instruments so that the passion in them never dies. I believe in creating a community where music can be seen as a full-time profession not just as a hobby.
