Prior to becoming a teacher I was employed in the Australian Defence Force (Navy). I teach with the Ed Qld and Cath Ed departments as a music specialist and I am currently Music Director of a Community Stage Band (New Groove Jazz Ensemble), which plays regularly at the Sandgate Town Hall, Brisbane Jazz Club and many other venues around Brisbane. Ken is LEGENDARY! That's how my two sons Luca and Leon describe Ken. Luca (10) has been learning the ALTO saxhophone and Leon (8) the guitar with Ken for just over 2 years. To put it simply, we couldn't be more happier! Ken possess all the best qualities a music teacher could have. Ken is very professional, super friendly, a great listener, and much child-focused. Ken knows when he can push and challenge, and when to ease off and add more fun to learning. Ken is very caring and always knows how to best support a child, even in the down times. We absolutely recommend Ken to anyone who likes to learn a new instrument or to improve their music skills! It's an honour to come across a teacher like Ken. We only walked out with big smiles after each lesson.
I have worked with Ken for a number of years. Ken is a motivated and highly experienced teacher backed by a wealth of performing experience. He works hard to get the very best out of his students, whether primary-school aged or preparing for Uni.
Ken has taught me saxophone for numerous years now, and there is no one else I would trust to ensure I am always improving my playing and maintaining proper technique, all whilst constantly building my love and passion for playing in every lesson. I cannot recommend Ken highly enough for anyone wanting to learn!
I would recommend Ken because he is a great communicator, has an open door policy, is able to interact with all ages, knowledgeable, friendly, student centered and a great teacher.
Ken was my high school instrumental music teacher and has been a bandmate/musical director for the last 10 years. He is a friendly and enthusiastic teacher who caters for every skill level, and has a wealth of knowledge to cover everything you need to know, whether it's instrument technique or music theory. I have seen a huge improvement in my playing under Ken's tutelage, and I would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for a quality teacher.
Ken is a very passionate teacher! He truly cares about his students musical journey and will do the best in his skills to help achieve any of your goals. Technically brilliant at many instruments (sax, clarinet, flute, piano and more). He is kind, knowledgable and funny! Definitely recommend him as a teacher.
