About Josh

I graduated high school in 2022, and have always had a passion for violin. Starting from the age of three, I have had 12 years total of experience with the instrument. In 2018, I graduated from the Suzuki violin curriculum. Since then, I have explored the realms of violin music independently. In high school, I had experience with two string orchestras and one symphony orchestra.

I am now keen to share the experience of being passionate about music while learning, whether it be learning how to hold your bow, or how to perfect your spiccato technique.

About the lesson

Hi there, my name is Josh. I am a 2022 high school graduate with 13 years’ experience playing the violin, having started from the age of three. In 2018, I graduated from the Suzuki method (12 volumes/grades). I have had experience in two string orchestras and one full instrumental orchestra during high school. Currently playing the violin independently, I am keen to share and encourage the experience of being passionate about music while learning.

Similar to the Suzuki method, my teaching revolves around understanding music through listening, and developing skills and technical aptitude through consistent exercises and playing.

I am familiar with all pieces from the Suzuki method. However, if you would prefer to learn pieces outside the curriculum, I am more than happy to accommodate that. In this case, please leave me plenty of notice before lessons, so that I can become familiar with the piece(s) beforehand.

I am flexible and happy to either host lessons myself (in the Rose Bay area) or travel to you, provided that you are within a 10km radius of Rose Bay.

In terms of lesson times, I can host 30 minute ($45), 45 minute ($60) or 60 minute sessions ($70). I recommend:
- 30 minute lessons for beginners
- 45 minute lessons for intermediate students
- 60 minute lessons for advanced students

However, it is contingent upon each individual’s learning style, and is ultimately your choice.
