My name is Cathal Stockmann. I am half Irish, half Dutch. I like playing games and sailing. When I start teaching, I first make sure that I have a good idea of my students current level. I always check whether they have specific questions about the material. If they do, we'll concentrate on answering them. If they don't come up with any questions, I run them (the pace depending on the time we have together) through the chapter. I let them do assignments. Either from the book, or ones I have made on the subject myself. Once the student understands the topic, we will work on reading, comprehending and answering questions. Of course I also check how much help the student needs with this first.
In short: I focus on what the student needs help with. So I always start by gauging where they stand and I adjust my plan appropriately.
